Something weird and extra, eh? Miss Izutsumi, are you referring to the paper rabbit or the well wishes?

Ah, I see. What's a gift if not something weird and extra? I think you're right.

Moon cakes are often accompanied by white rabbits because both are said to delight the immortal beauty living in the moon. So I thought perhaps it could delight an Izutsumi as well.

As for the well wishes, if someone is experiencing troubles, it's sometimes comforting to know someone else is thinking of them. Of course, if you are free of troubles, you may pass these well wishes on to someone you know. It's alright to regift things, if you have no use for them yourself.

Eh, does it say anywhere that these things imply you can't take care of yourself? They're only weird and extra, after all. It's not even a very good rabbit, I know, you can believe me. The book made it look so easy, it's just folding paper! But you have to be really particular about it, actually.

You know, I've yet to see a fire that wouldn't burn on its own. But when people add firewood, the flames rise higher, don't they?

[Are cats just allergic to metaphors? Wouldn't even be the first time this has happened to Li Lianhua. Aiya...]

It's just an example of something that can fend for itself, but that will flourish with a little extra. Think of little gifts and well wishes as firewood that will let you shine brighter if you like them to. Does young miss Izutsumi think that sounds sensible?

I won't, I won't. I don't have that many paper rabbits lying around, you know!

Ah but am I right to assume moon cakes are exempt from these terms?
